Friday night Outsiders program

On Friday night we have a special program with outsiders music. People who do not follow the path, but rather create their own way. It is a program that goes from psychedelic drones to finger picking guitar to Krautrock.

Friday we start early (17:00) at comic store Lambiek, where we have a sketch battle and two live performances. First on will be Mylo Cywitz who will present his peculiar electronic opera. A mixture of bombast, radio play and abstract visuals.

Frankensteins Ballet
After this German Krautrock band Frankensteins Ballet will perform their trance inducing, though also danceable songs. Live a true sensation that doesn't stick to pure Krautrock, but also uses influences from dub and psychedelic music, which can also be heard on their first Double LP on Toztizok Zoundz.

After this we jump on our bike to be just in time for the night program kick-off at De Vondelbunker with a live performance by the Belgian psychedelic droners Innercity that will start at 20:00. Their music is a 100% guarantee to space out. Both on album and live to know to create the perfect psychedelic atmosphere to take you drifting through space.

Just when Innercity has finished we jump on our bike again to go to the OCCII where legendary guitarist Sir Richard Bishop takes over with his finger picking guitar influenced by Gipsy, Raga, Arabic and Persian music. He is probably best known for his old band Sun City Girls, but solo he is just as impressive. During his performance at SOTU he will present works from his new album with acoustic guitar music.

Ashley Paul
At 22:45 American musician Ashley Paul will present her songs which are created with saxophone, clarinet, voice, guitar, bells and percussion. These can be introvert, but also eclectic. It is hard to just describe her music as it can go anywhere, from avant-garde saxophone playing to soft songs. This diversity doesn't just stick to her albums, also live she knows how to amaze the audience with her diversity.

The last live performance in this series of outsiders musicians is by Flower / Corsano Duo. As duo Mike Flower and Chris Corsano sure know to impress with their combination of inspiring drones from the Japanese Banjo "Shahi Baaja", and unsettling drums. A must see live performance if you are into trance inducing music.

To finish of the night, DJ Chris Menist will play some of best Asian and African pop tunes to keep you moving through the night. With his exquisite collection of records he for sure will keep you dancing till soles from your shoes are worn out. What a way to wrap this night of weird outsiders music up, we couldn't imagine a better way.
