WELCOME

The SOTU is a five day festival in Amsterdam, which is happening 5, 9, 10, 11, 12 May 2013 in a collaboration between venues OCCII, OT301 and Vondelbunker. On the 5th of May we collaborate with the Doek Festival on a night in the Vondelbunker. This year we had 1750 visitors, spead over 5 nights and 7 venues, with 91 artists. In 2012 we celebrated a succesfull first edition with around 90 acts and performances over 4 locations and 1000 visitors. The festival concentrates on alternative and independent music culture with noise, indie rock, psychedelia, avant-garde, bass music, improv jazz and underground dance. Also included within the program are documentaries, workshops, art and performances. This second edition is realized thanks to the dedication and contributions from 25 organizations, collectives and curators.

    Le Cercle de Mallissimalistes is a side project of two bandmembers from Chocolat Billy, plus two other musicians. The music they play can be described as a free improvisation within spaced out progressive rock. Like Chocolat billy, this group forms a combination of musicians that can create a hypnotic atmosphere with their liveshows.

    The KVB brings you wave upon wave of audiovisual chills and thrills. Carefully composed layers of shoegazey guitars, icy synthwork, resonating vocals and hypnotizing beats, interwoven with a unique abstract visual language will entrance and enchant the audience.They are highlighted in Gonzo (circus), this month's edition. (About their echo, dark guitar & synths with a lot of distortion.) KVB are also releasing the Immaterial Visions Remixes EP, soon out on Minimal Wave.

    Wouter van Veldhoven builds his own instruments out of discarded and obsolete devices and old toys. He modifies and manipulates these to produce musical oddities, ranging from intimate ambient sounds to experiments with minimal techno. Perfect for that groggy Sunday.
